Delhi Public School Vasant Kunj

The Delhi Public School Vasant Kunj is one of the newer additions to the DPS family in Delhi. Set up in 1991 the school is not as old as some other members of the DPS family but has managed to make a name for itself. The school aims to excel in Science education and, like all other members of the DPS family, draws students aiming at competitive exams.

The DPS Vasant Kunj campus has all required facilities. On the science side the school has labs for physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics. There are separate multi- media and Internet labs in addition to two computer labs. On the arts side the school has a fashion technology lab as well as a German room.

The school houses three libraries. The first caters to students of Class I to V, the second to students from Class VI to IX and the third is exclusively for students of Class X to XII. The libraries contain both books and multimedia CD/ DVD content.

On the sports front the school has facilities for basketball, tennis, cricket, badminton, volleyball, skating and yoga.

Other facilities include an auditorium, dance & music rooms and a clinic. Hostel facilities are available for both boys and girls with each hostel having a capacity of 36.

The admissions made in 2023-2024 were to the Nursery i.e. Pre- School Class. The school had a total availability of 240 seats with 120 seats available for the General Category (50%), 60 seats for the EWS quota (25%), 48 seats for the Management quota (20%) and 12 seats for the Staff quota (5%). Admission was restricted to children aged 3 years or more as on 31/03/2023.

The admissions process is governed by the policies and guidelines of the Delhi Government. In 2023-2024 the school adopted the following timeline

The school uses a point-based system for admissions. The criteria and their weightages are as below

Neighborhood	40 points. Students residing within 10 km from the school get 40 points, those residing between 10 and 15 km get 30 points while all those residing more than 15 Km away get 20 points.
Sibling	30 points. Applicants are given 30 points if a real brother or sister is already studying in the school.
Alumni	25 points. The candidate is given 10 points if either parent is an alumnus of a DPS school and 20 points if both parents are alumni of a DPS school. In addition 5 points are given to wards of alumni of DPS Vasant Kunj.
Single Parent	5 points. Wards of widows/ widowers/ divorcees are given 5 points.
Total	100 points.

The school requires that successful applicants produce the following documents.

Address Proof	The school requires any one proof of residential address such as Aadhar Card/ Election Card/ Passport/ Electricity Bill/ Water Bill/ MTNL Bill/ Ration Card/ Domicile Certificate.
Date of Birth and Girl Child Proof	Birth Certificate issued by Municipal Corporation.
Sibling Proof	Identity Card/ Latest Fee Bill of sibling issued by office in 2022-2023.
Alumni Proof	Copy of the passing certificate(Class X/ XII) issued by CBSE
Single Parent	Valid legal proof of single status.

The school received 1614 applications and revealed the marks obtained by each applicant. The cutoff for admission was at 50 points .

The top scoring students in each category in 2022- 2023 were as follows- Science- 98.6%; Commerce- 97.6%; Humanities- 97.6%. 153 students of the 490 who appeared obtained more than 90% in the aggregate.
