About the School
The Delhi Public School Vasant Kunj is one of the newer additions to the DPS family in Delhi. Set up in 1991 the school is not as old as some other members of the DPS family but has managed to make a name for itself. The school aims to excel in Science education and, like all other members of the DPS family, draws students aiming at competitive exams.

Facilities
The DPS Vasant Kunj campus has all required facilities. On the science side the school has labs for physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics. There are separate multi- media and Internet labs in addition to two computer labs. On the arts side the school has a fashion technology lab as well as a German room.

The school houses three libraries. The first caters to students of Class II to V, the second to students from Class VI to XII and the third is exclusively for students of Class X to XII. The libraries contain both books and multimedia CD/ DVD content.

On the sports front the school has facilities for basketball, tennis, cricket, badminton, volleyball, skating and yoga.

Other facilities include an auditorium, dance & music rooms and a clinic. Hostel facilities are available for both boys and girls with each hostel having a capacity of 36.

Age Criteria and Seats in 2017-2018
The admissions made in 2017- 2018 were to the Nursery i.e. Pre- School Class. The school had a total availability of 200 seats with 100 seats available for the General Category (50%), 50 seats for the EWS quota (25%), 40 seats for the Management quota (20%) and 10 seats for the Staff quota (5%). Admission was restricted to children aged 3 years or more as on 31/03/2017.

The admissions process is governed by the policies and guidelines of the Delhi Government. In 2017-2018 the school adopted the following timeline

Admission Criteria
The school uses a point-based system for admissions. The criteria and their weightages are as below

Neighborhood 40 points.

Candidates residing within 1 km from the school get 40 points, those residing between 1 and 3 km get 30 points, those residing between 3 and 6 km get 20 points while all those residing more than 6 away get 10 points.
Sibling 30 points.

Applicants are given 30 points if a real brother or sister is already studying in the school.
Alumni 20 points.

The candidate is given 10 points if either parent is an alumnus of the school and 20 points if both parents are alumni of the school.
Girl child/ First Child 5 points.

Female/ first born children are given 5 points.
Single Parent 5 points.

Wards of widows/ widowers/ divorcees are given 5 points.
Total 100 points.


Documents Required
The school requires that successful applicants produce the following documents.

Address Proof The school requires any one proof of residential address such as Aadhar Card/ Election Card/ Passport/ Electricity Bill/ Water Bill/ MTNL Bill/ Ration Card/ Domicile Certificate.
Date of Birth and Girl Child Proof Birth Certificate issued by Municipal Corporation.
Sibling Proof Identity Card/ Latest Fee Bill of sibling issued by office in 2016-2017.
Alumni Proof Copy of the passing certificate(Class X/ XII) issued by CBSE
Single Parent Valid legal proof of single status.
Gender Affidavit with regard to same.


Cutoffs in 2017-2018
The school received 2280 applications and revealed the marks obtained by each applicant. Candidates with scores between 50 and 75 points were directly shortlisted for admission. The remaining seats were filled by a draw of lots amongst the 164 candidates who had scored 45 points each.

Class XII Results
The top scoring students in each category in 2016- 2017 were as follows- Science- 98.2%; Commerce- 96.6%; Humanities- 95.8%. 221 students of the 470 who appeared obtained more than 90% in the aggregate.
