About the School
The Indian School was set up by the Gyan Mandir Society in 1996. As the name suggests the school attempts to blend a modern education with Indian values. According to the school its aim is to prepare children to meet global challenges while retaining Indian Sanskaras. The school prides itself on what it calls the sanskara syllabus. Other parts of the school's philosophy are "learning by doing" and "going beyond the classroom". The school is also known for its beautiful campus and building in the heart of South Delhi.

Facilities
The Indian School is housed in a modern building set amongst large lawns on Josip Broz Tito Marg. The entire campus is under CCTV surveillance. The school has state of the art labs for physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology, computers and psychology. There are specialist teaching rooms for environment/ social sciences, fashion technology and engineering graphics. The library is housed within what is called the Learning center and has a collection of more than 22000 books/ CD's and DVD's. The Learning center includes a Resource Room with audio- visual, Internet, photocopying and projection screen facilities. The library also houses stamp and coin collections.

On the performing arts front the school has an open air amphitheatre and an indoor auditorium. The Arts Center houses art, music, theatre and dance rooms. These facilities are complemented by an audio- visual room with a seating capacity of 80 people.

On the sports front the school has facilities for football, cricket, basketball, athletics, badminton, table tennis and a state of the art skating rink.

Age Criteria and Seats in 2023-2024
The admissions made in 2023-2024 were to the Nursery i.e. Pre- School Class. The minimum age was three years as on 31st March 2023. The total number of seats in the General Category was 156.

Admission Timeline for 2023-2024
The admission process is governed by the policies and guidelines of the Delhi Government. In 2023-2024 the school adopted the following timeline

Admission Criteria
The school uses a points-based system for admission. The criteria and their weigthages are as below

Neighborhood 60 points.

Students are awarded these points based on the distance between school and residence.
Siblings 20 points.

Applicants are given 20 points if a real brother or sister is already studying in the school.
First Born Child 20 points.

First born children get 20 points.
Total 100 points.

Documents Required
The school requires that successful applicants produce the following documents.
  • Birth Certificate of the child attested by the gazetted officer
  • Medical fitness certificate of the child
  • Proof of residence- Voter ID or Passport or Drivers License
  • For sibling cases- a copy of the latest fee receipt of the sibling.
  • First Born Child- Joint declaration by parents

Cutoffs in 2023-2024
The school published the points scored by all 1980 applicants for admission. The cutoff for admission was at 80 points.

Class XII Results
The top scoring students in each category in 2022-2023 were as follows- Science- 96.75%; Commerce- 97.2%; Humanities- 98.25%.
